Unique Item Identification
If you are supplying products to the military or its subcontractors, you will probably be required to follow Mil-Std-130 specifications for its packaging and labelling. One form or another of UID may be required.
Unique Item Identification is an identification system installed on a product. Through the use of a data matrix code, it communicates volumes of information about the product, its manufacturer, part number, serial number, etc. Human readable copy as well as scannable linear barcodes are also available.
